IESC – the International Executive Service Corps – is a US based not-for-profit with a focus on supporting private enterprise in developing countries. We have worked in partnership with local people in 130 countries - mainly with the generous support of USAID - designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range of market driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry.

IESC is seeking a chief of party for an anticipated USAID-funded program in Malawi focused on agricultural value chain development. It is anticipated that the program will sustainably reduce rural poverty and malnutrition through the integration of equitable market-led value chain development and nutrition interventions. This position will be full-time and based in Malawi.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership, management, and technical oversight for all project activities and deliverables;
  • Serve as the primary liaison to USAID and Malawian stakeholders and partners;
  • Lead and manage the work of project personnel and subcontractors;
  • Ensure that project assistance is technically sound and appropriate for each component;
  • Work collaboratively with partners, specifically in the private sector, and stakeholders to implement program mission and strategy;
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in economics, business, finance, international development, agribusiness, or other relevant field required;
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in international agricultural development, preferably on programs supporting value chain development, agribusiness, WASH, or nutrition focused agriculture;
  • Previous Chief of Party/Project Director experience required;
  • USAID or other donor experience required;
  • Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa required; experience in Malawi highly preferred;
  • Knowledge of agricultural and value-chain constraints in the region, specifically Malawi preferred;
  • English fluency required.
