IESC – the International Executive Service Corps – is a US based not-for-profit with a focus on supporting private enterprise in developing countries. We have worked in partnership with local people in 130 countries - mainly with the generous support of USAID - designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range of market driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry.
IESC is seeking an experienced Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated USAID Feed the Future funded program in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The program will focus on promotion economic growth and developing resilience of actors in targeted value chains. It is anticipated that the program will target three commodities – coffee and two nutritional crops. This position will be full-time and based in the DRC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical oversight for all project activities and deliverables;
Serve as the primary liaison to USAID and other DRC stakeholders and partners;
Lead and manager the work of project personnel and subcontractors;
Ensure that project assistance is technically sound and appropriate for each component;
Work collaboratively with partners, specifically in the private sector, and stakeholders to implement program mission and strategy;
Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in agriculture, economics, international development, agribusiness, or other relevant field;
Minimum 12 years of experience in international agricultural development, preferably on program supporting value chain development, or agribusiness;
Minimum seven years of Chief of Party experience on large, complex, donor-funded programs required, preferably on Feed the Future programs;
Knowledge of agricultural and value-chain constraints in the region;
Strong leadership and communication skills; a capacity to plan strategically and flexibly;
Experience working conflict/post-conflict environments; preferably in the region;
English fluency required; French fluency preferred.
